Team : Here are our ideas. Tell us if any of those are more appealing to you or feel free to add more suggestions! We need to choose a subject soon.
MARCH 6TH
Becca : I think that those ideas are sooo great! Trip to foreign country will be a great idea for us to write a cross culture story! With culture shock, or combining western and eastern culture together, and something like that! It is so interesting to work with all of you! :D
Ann : Are we going to make up a story about cowboys having culture shock?(This is what I think when I learn the subjects in our story.) However, I want to ask, why’’space’’? It must be an interesting story. Hahaha! What is the main topic for this story? I am thinking of the spirit of ‘’never giving up’’, but it could also do if we simply give a short idea of what this subjects are. (If it is going to be ‘’never give up’’, the cowboys are going to have a hard time and face many difficulties, which be solved when the story comes to an end.)What do you think? What are your ideas? :)
Audrey : Welcome in our team, Becca! Ann, those are all separate subjects ideas, not like we meant to include them all… it would have been a bit confusing!! I like the idea or “never give up”, or something like “stay positive when you face difficulties”. Like Becca, my favorite subject is a family going on a trip to a foreign country. I was thinking… a western family moving to an asian country or the opposite? That would be a great way to, as mentioned, combine our cultures.
MARCH 8TH
Audrey : Our new discussion page is created!
MARCH 14TH
Team Brain Storming :
We discussed and finally decided what our subject was gonna be :
A taiwanese family moving to Quebec in winter!
Themes ideas : Integration, cultural shock, difficulties, emotional ups and downs. Friendship and family values helping to cope with loneliness, sadness and missing your home. But the end is on a positive note!
We have divised the tasks as following and also organized the deadlines :
PAGE 1-2-3 -> Team Taiwan (due date : March 19th)
PAGE 4 -> Angélica (due date : Tuesday 21st)
PAGE 5 -> Audrey (due date : Thursday 23rd)
PAGE 6 -> Audrey-Maude (due date : Saturday 25th)
PAGE 7 -> Valérie (Sunday 26th)
PAGE 8-9 -> Team Quebec (date to be determined)
Main ideas for every page:
PAGE 1 : Initial situation (description of the main caracter, a teenager, and description of his/her family... maybe integrate some cultural details if possible)
PAGE 2 : Trigger event (the parents announce the family is moving to Quebec... Hopes, expectations, fears, feelings...)
PAGE 3 : Departure. Airport. Plane. Arrival in Quebec. First impressions.
*** Feel free to organise and detail your ideas as you wish, this is just a rough plan. You also have to decide whether it's gonna be a boy or a girl and if the story is gonna be told in the first of third person.
PAGE 4 : Discovery of the city.
PAGE 5 : School trip to the "cabane à sucre" (Sugar shack).
PAGE 6 : Meeting with the neighbours.
PAGE 7 : Team sports event (to be determined... What do you think Valérie?)
PAGE 8-9 : Conclusion (integration, assimilation, langage, new friends, school, etc.)
*** Write your part down here!
*** AND PLEASE ADD SOME OF YOUR SUGGESTIONS. ;)
